Quentin Risher RD1
1967-68
Quent or Rish in 1955 just starting his naval career.
Rish was not only a first class petty officer in 1967 he was and still is a first class person and a friend to all of us who served with him. We all have the highest regards for him and his wife Dot.
Among his other duties on the New in 1967 while in the War Zone, Rish was the ships Sharp Shooter. Having won contests in the Navy he was an expert marksman. He was assigned to the bridge wing with a special pistol he used when searching Vietnamese boats for enemy weapons and personnel. He says he was fortunate he never had to shot a human being wile we were there. But would have.
Check out his story in Sea Stories.
Swift Boats we worked with and supported while in the waters of Vietnam. Above was probably inside DaNang Harbor where we spent many of days anchored and even shooting at targets in the hills around the city.
